Any info in the AEC-to-NRC transition ?

Post by NALarsen »

I am writing a paper on the transition from the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Does anyone have any material, links, etc. that might be pertinent?

Any help would be appreciated.

US-AEC was formed after the world to oversee peaceful uses on the atom. It was abolished in 1974, after teh first oil crisis in the US and was split into two agencies, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (US-NRC) and Energy Rsearch and Development Administration (US-ERDA). In 1977, ERDA was combined with the Federal Energy Administration (US-FEA) to form the United States Department of Energy (US-DOE).

I don't know what sort of information you are looking for, but wikipedia has a couple of good articles on the subject.
