Explaining the nuclear units ?

I read and hear all these units thrown around and though I've tried to read up on them, I still get confused. In particular I keep hearing about sieverts and beqerels, and once in a while I read about greys. (In my readings, I also saw that they used to use rems, but I don't care about those, since they are not used any more). Getting back to the units used now, can someone direct me to a good source of simple explanations about these? Or, can someone explain them in terms that a simple minded person like me can really understand it?

It would be greatly appreciated.

Any descent book on radiation or health physics would have that information. Also, you may want to take a look at the document posted a while ago here,

viewtopic.php?f=7&t=138

Which explains some of these concepts and units in simple terms.
