Agile Books - Suggestions?

Post by OscarG »

Can anyone suggest some good books on Agile (and may be Scrum)? I have downloaded and reviewed a whole bunch of PDFs and find them useful, but I'm one of those people that likes the feel of a real book.

There are probably hundreds out there, but here are a few that *I* found useful.

Succeeding with Agile: Software Development Using Scrum - Mike Cohn

Agile Project Management with Scrum (Developer Best Practices) - Ken Schwaber

Agile and Iterative Development: A Manager's Guide - Craig Larman

Lean Software Development: An Agile Toolkit - Mary Poppendieck , Tom Poppendieck

I visit this forum as a user of Draft Choice, an old trius program, and was pleasantly surprised when I logged in today and saw this new section on project management. I've been managing engineering projects for decades and have been very interested in Agile in the last 3-4 years (thought it's been hard coming from a very "structured" experience). I've been following a bunch of forums on the subject, but many of them seem to be talking over my head. I can understand the things being posted here, this is great!

And, thank you Andrew for the excellent lost of books on the subject.

Derek, I haven't read the other one, but the book Agile Software Engineering with Visual Studio by Sam Guckenheimer and Neno Loje is indeed very good and I would also recommend it!

There are actually many good Agile books out there, but the best way to learn it is by doing it.

Succeeding with Agile Software Development Using Scrum, by Mike Cohn is also one of the better books I've read on the subject.

Patrcik, do you know who the publisher of this book is? I couldn't find it. Is the title exactly as you typed it?

The publisher is Addison-Wesley

ISBN-13: 978-0-321-57936-2
ISBN-10: 0-321-57936-4

There may be a US and an International version, I am not sure.

I found a free downloadable version, pdf, and quickly went over it after I downloaded a copy. Very good, thanks for the recommendation.

Do you have the link to that pdf handy? I looked on-line, but could not find it. I'd like to download a copy of the book, if it's free.
