Aseasy for Win and Windows 7

Info on how to get a free copy of TRIUS' spreadsheet program AS-EASY-AS for DOS and AS-EASY-AS for Windows and messages by users on how to use it, etc. (Discontinued, but still used by many users)

Aseasy for Win and Windows 7

Post by BillRotando »

I was using the windows version of aseasy for years, with win 95, 98, XP and Vista. But, when I updated to Windows 7, I couldn't even install the program. Does anyone here know if there is a way to install and run the program in Windows 7?

Bill, what types of problems did you have? I revived my old copy of aseasy a few weeks ago, because I wanted to do some statistics and other analysis, without using the excel black-box approach, and was able to install in win Win7 without any hickups. I've used it a little bit and don't know if all aspects of it are working as intended, but so far everything I have tried on it works.

My only peeve is that copying info between it and other Windows apps is not all the great, but I am learning to work around it.

Anyway, when you say you couldn't even install it, what happened?

Interesting to hear that people have put As easy As for windows on a windows 7 operating system. Having just upgraded to win 7 (64bit) I am unable to run the programme at all. I get an error message that the programme is incompatible. I have tried numerous installations using different settings with no sucess. Anybody any ideas? In the meantime I have had to migrate my .wks files to open office, being the only compatable spreadsheet programme I could find.

Well, I am using the 32-bit windows, but I didn't have to do anything special to install or run the program! Maybe someone else here is running it with Win64, I don't know.

bill,
Right that may be the difference running windows at 32 rather than the 64 bit version. If anybody has installed under the 64 bit version I wuld like to hear about it

Geoff, where you able to even install it? It could be that the installer is not a very "friendly" version to 64-bit OSes. Or is it that you install it, but can't run it?

No it won't install at all. Says programme is incompatible. As easy runs well on my old XP system. I copied a working version onto a memory stick and tried to run it on win 7. It opens but says it has to be registed and there is no facility for registering the "free" number fom within As easy.

I see, you can't even get by the installer :-( I don't know what they were using, but that has been the issue with *many* installer packages :-( Too bad. If TRIUS wanted to give me the original release files (or if I knew what they had to be), I could probably whip up an installer that would work on 32 and 64 bits. Of course, that presumes that the program would run fine on 64 bit, after it was installed. Who knows :-(

I just tried to install it on ubuntu 11 with wine, but I couldn't get past the registration screen. I would enter the registration number posted here and the registration dialog would keep popping up, no error or anything, I just couldn't get by the dialog :-(

Billrotando, I have been using the program in ubuntu (10.xx, don't have 11.00) without any problems. I encountered no problems whatsoever with the installation.
