Re: ITER - Fusion News
It is interesting indeed. I was a bit surprised byt the time line they gave for possibly "commercial" applications. Somewhat far into the future, but I guess in the large scale of things, it probably makes sense.

Re: Ignition Failed - Fusion
"Dirtier fission nukes"? I've never heard them referred to like that! Dirtier in comparison to what? Coal? Oil? Gas?HowardE wrote:If the government (and industry) were spending as much money on fusion as they have been spending on the dirtier fission nukes, fusion may have had a chance.

Re: Good (free?) FTA Software?
Right in the Downloads section! Those are the only two platforms it's available for. BTW, I downloaded and tried to install the linux version multiple times on Ubuntu and Puppy (a Xubuntu variation), but after wasting many hours I gave up. Fared muh better with the Windows version (well, as far as i...

Cold Fusion
Some interesting reading about Cold fusion. I Wanted to attach the PDF but the board will not allow attachments larger than about 3 Mb (I think) so I couldn't. That's why I am posting the link where you can get it. If the admin increases the allowable attachment size, it would be great! JOURNAL OF C...

Re: No posts about other nuclear forms, like fusion!
If I had to guess, I'd say that most most posters, even those in the nuclear field, are not familiar with these concepts and are comfortable dealing with the old-and-tried light water reactor technology, which is easier to understand and deal with. They probably don't even have the education of kno...

Any links to the other types of fusion work you mention in your post? Here are some links and a couple of documents, Elecman. Hope you find them interesting. http://www.generalfusion.com/overview.html http://www.generalfusion.com/generator_design.html http://helionenergy.com/?page_id=164 http://www...

Re: No posts about other nuclear forms, like fusion!
The fusion research activity might have been toned down, but it definitely hasn't stopped. At the time, as I remember it, there were a couple of competing technologies with plasma magnetic confinement (Tokamak reactors) attracting a lot of attention. But, after spending decades and billions of dolla...
